Week 9 - Animal

Image
I'm sad this is the last post of this year, but I'm also glad that this is my last post because I'm really happy with the way my drawing turned out! This took me about 45 minutes to do, and I did it with watercolors and a pencil in my sketchbook. Originally, I wanted the snail's shell to be a sunset, but I decided that I liked doing a more abstract style. Overall, I really like the way this turned out!

Q2 Week 8 - Final

Image
Since this is our final project, I wanted to draw something that I was passionate about. I love Lilo and Stitch, so that's where this came from. I think I could've done better on the background and proportions, but otherwise, I really like it! I used a mix of watercolors, colored pencils, a pencil, and my sketchbook. This took me about 2 and a half hours.

Q2 Week 7 - Watercolor

Image
This took me a long while, about 3 and a half hours. I think it's because I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my work, so I really wanted it to be the best it could be. I used my watercolors on this and I like the way it turned out. I knew it would be challenging when I drew it, but I got a little bit lost trying to do all the details on the headpieces, so I made it more simple. Here are my layer and progress photos. I did about 3 layers. Reference:

Q2 Week 7 - Watercolor Sketch

Image
This took me about 2 hours to get this sketch completely done. I'm really proud of how this turned out! I'll also put my reference photo down below. I was really inspired by the avant-garde style, so I wanted to draw something out of the ordinary. I used a pencil in my sketchbook to draw this. Before I paint this in with watercolors I'll probably shift the jaw just a little bit because it looks a bit big. I'll also add all the little details with watercolor since it will be easier than drawing every little bead. I just gave myself some rough guidelines.

Week 6 - Landscape

Image
This took me about an hour and 10 minutes to do. I did it in my sketchbook with pencils and watercolors. I tried to make it as cohesive as possible without making the colors muddled. Sunsets are always a huge inspiration for me because the color in the sky looks like a painting. They're gorgeous.

Week 6 - Color Wheel

Image
This took me about an hour and a half to do. I drew this with a pencil in my sketchbook and colored it with watercolors. It was only after I was done that I realized it wasn't exactly a wheel.... but I still like the way it turned out! It's meant to be wings on a wall, like the graffiti you see in LA.

Q2 Week 6 - Bug Drawing

Image
This week I drew a ladybug because all other bugs make my skin crawl, and this seemed like the best option. I decided to make the flower blue because I like the way primary colors work together, and it pulled the picture together quite nicely. This took me about an hour and 20 minutes, plus it drying overnight. I really like working with watercolors because there's so much freedom in them and they can be messy in the best way. This was done in my sketchbook with a pencil. I also included my reference picture at the bottom.
